To keep your Jeep Wrangler JK grille insert in excellent condition, you need to clean and maintain it. Luckily, doing so isn’t as difficult as it may seem. Here are the steps that teach you how to clean your Jeep Wrangler grille inserts.
1. Remove the Insert
When learning how to clean your Jeep Wrangler grille inserts, you need to know how to remove the insert from your vehicle. If you want to clean it thoroughly, it's best to remove it from the Jeep. To do this, you need to lift the hood and take off the pop-clips that attach the grille to the vehicle. You can use a Phillips screwdriver to remove them with ease. Then, all you need to do is move the grill and gently lift the insert. Grille inserts usually don’t sit attached to anything, so you should be able to lift yours straight from the grille.
2. Use Warm Water and Soap
After you take the insert off of the grille, you can use warm water and soap to clean the insert. Of course, there are many products you can use to clean your vehicle. But usually, all you need is mild dish soap, warm water, and a cloth. Make sure you clean both the front and the back of the insert thoroughly.
3. Dry the Insert Thoroughly
After you wash the front and back of the insert, you can use a cloth to dry it thoroughly. You don’t want to leave any water spots on the metal, so remember to dry both sides.
4. Reinstall the Insert
Finally, all you need to do is reinstall the insert. Before you begin this process, make sure to open the Jeep’s hood. After that, place the insert gently on the inside of the grille. You can then attach the grille to the retainer clips of the vehicle. These retainer clips are in the space where the bottom of the grille should be. All you need to do is apply pressure to the grille to snap it into place. Then, you can reattach the pop clips and close the hood.
