How to Prepare Your Jeep for Winter Driving

How to Prepare Your Jeep for Winter Driving

Snow and frigid temperatures will hit before you know it, but the good thing is, there’s no better vehicle ready for the task then a Jeep. Nonetheless, you should still get your Jeep ready for the most dangerous driving season of the year. We explain how to prepare your Jeep for winter driving.

Make Sure Your Heater Works

With the winter comes freezing temperatures in many states, which is why you need to make sure that your heater works. It’s not a bad idea to have an inspection done, or you can check your blower motor yourself. This will help ensure you have enough heat inside your Jeep as you drive around in the winter.

Get New Windshield Wiper Blades

An upgrade you should consider making for your Jeep is new windshield wiper blades. Visibility is incredibly important on the road, especially when it snows. It’s recommended that you replace your windshield wipers every six months to a year. If you start to notice your windshield wipers stop working as well, however, it’s best to get new ones before the winter weather hits.

Consider New Tires

In addition to new windshield wiper blades, you should also consider getting new tires. The roads in the winter become notoriously slick, and tires made specifically for the season exist. Winter tires are worth getting because they’ll give you better traction on the snow- and ice-covered roads.

Put the Top Back On

One of the best Jeep Wrangler features is having the ability to take off the top during the warmer months. If you haven’t done so already, you should put the top back on your Jeep Wrangler. There are soft tops and hard tops, but either should be put back on once the weather starts getting cold.

Check the Battery

A final way to prepare your Jeep for the winter is to check the battery. Cold temperatures can kill a Jeep’s battery, so check to see if it works properly beforehand. You should also prepare for if it does die by having jumper cables and a portable battery in your vehicle.

While that’s how to prepare your Jeep for Winter driving, there may be other repairs and additions you can make to your Wrangler. At AM Off-Road, you can get Jeep Wrangler door hinges, floor mats, and more parts to get yours ready for winter.
