A grille insert is a fun way to protect your engine and personalize your vehicle. Many people are unaware that a grille is surprisingly easy to install. If you want to get one for your Jeep Wrangler, here are the steps that teach you how to install Jeep Wrangler grille inserts.
1. Lift the Hood
Of course, the first step you need to do is undo the latches and raise the vehicle’s hood. This will be the first step in gaining access to the grill. To be safe, make sure you prop the hood up or have someone hold it for you.
2. Use a Flat-Head Screwdriver
The second step is to remove the six pop-clips holding the grill with a flat-head screwdriver. These are found at the top of the grill, so you’ll see them as soon as you lift the hood. They’re easy to remove, but as you do so, be careful not to scratch the paint of the Jeep in the process.
3. Gently Remove the Grill
There are retainer clips that hold the grille in place, so after removing the pop-clips, all you need to do is gently tug on the grille to remove it. After you do that, place it on a table or flat surface to install the insert. Once again, be sure not to scratch the paint when you place it on the table.
4. Snap In the Insert
The next step is to place the JK grille insert behind the grill. Keep in mind that if there’s already an insert in place, you’ll need to remove it before inserting the new one. These grille inserts are usually wedged in-between the grill and the vehicle, so they aren’t attached to anything.
5. Put the Grill Back
After you place the insert in the vehicle, all you need to do is gently snap the grill back to the retainer clips of the vehicle and then put all six of the pop-clips back. The pop-clips can be put back in by hand. The final step is to close the hood, and then you’re all set.
